Two modes
- One page: all internal and external links on that page are requested (up to 200).
- Whole site: the site is crawled (up to 200 pages) and links are checked, internal ones first. Tick "external links" to include links to other sites.
How results are classified
- Broken: 4xx and 5xx answers, domains that don't resolve, invalid HTTPS, redirect loops.
- Blocked: 401, 403, 429, bot protection or robots.txt. The link may work for visitors; RankCortex can't verify it and doesn't bypass protection.
- Redirect: the link works but goes through a redirect; update it to the final URL.
- Error: timeouts and connection failures, often temporary. Re-check before removing the link.
Frequently asked questions
Why is a link I can open marked as blocked?
Some sites refuse automated requests (403) or show a CAPTCHA. That's why blocked links are listed separately from broken ones.
Do broken links hurt SEO?
A few broken outbound links won't sink a page, but broken internal links waste crawl budget and send visitors to dead ends. Fix them first.
